What's new

England v Pakistan | 3rd ODI | Nottingham | August 30th, 2016 | England innings

Form wise you're better but I don't think you lot are good enough to challenge top teams abroad, whereas BD are pretty decent at home now in ODI's.

The same thing was being told about Pakistan test side. After a long time they were given a chance to play abroad in England and they proved those chairarm experts wrong by winning 2 tests.

Bangladesh's last performance abroad was in Australia and New Zealand world cup and they reached quarter finals. Then a long gap without any opportunities to play....so these are actually fictional comments obout performing abroad.

ofcourse not, that is my point that one match shouldn't mean anything. I know we lost that encounter in WT20 and by a good margin but that doesn't necessarily indicate that Pakistan are much better than us in T20s.

But you only ever beat us twice in T20's

Time to drop few catches of Amir's ball. Let England to score 400+ and save our ODI team from hacks

We were able to challenge abroad since we have one of the world's strongest middle order batting lineups and the best leg spinner in the world. Our captain is one of the top 3 best Test captains and I rate Sarfraz the best keeper in Tests too. We were very likely to win games abroad.

Lol

Let the out of form Hales get back into action

Root is too good for us
Should be glad Bairstow isn't playing

To be honest it's all about consistency, if you lot can keep winning and move up the rankings then BD will be a top team.

Its a lot harder than you think. You can't always "keep winning" just like that. Despite our performance in 2016 not one team, yes not one team felt like hosting Bangladesh in the entire period of April-September. That is a period of 5 months.

No matter how good a team you are, if you are not playing international cricket you can't just turn up on a given day and start performing like before. No test team in the world ever has had a 6 month gap in their international calender.

Even though I am an optimist, I feel we will struggle against England even at home and NZ abroad as well. No amount of domestic cricket, Premier league competition can help you much.

These words are after winning. But before this series words were not that optimistic, rather of speculation of losing 0-3 by most posters here.

Have to take hard catches and stop the extra runs in the field, and run extra while batting,Pak seems to be too far from it right now.

Yes only twice. The record is 2-1 in recent times and small sample size won't say much. I still feel that Pakistan is a better T20 side given that our team consists of skinny guys and mushy

Best way nowadays to gain exposure is to play T20 leagues under pressure situations.

I hope its not more than 264::J

Why? Don't think negative like that. Records are made to be broken. But looking at Hales, fitness might restrict him - he's looking a bit winded.

Like the approach though, he's going for broke.

Not me, I'm a young fan and this Test team was the only team I grew up watching since 2011 and it's a fantastic team. I know how each player plays inside out so I was confident we would've played well.

I'm actually disgusted as to how far we regressed as an ODI team. These guys will sweat when playing the qualifiers.

I'm laughing at those who said Sohail Khan was mediocre and Wahab was superior, this guy is a poor mans Mohammad Sami.

why is wahab bowling that line? he knows very well that even an edge will go for four there...

Wahab has basic school boy issues. No balls, bad lines, bad lengths, no cricketing brain, poor wrist position...you could go on and on...

Exactly.Bangladesh has been badly hurt by not given the opportunity to play international cricket for a long period of time. BCB is responsible for not taking the opportunity of Bangladesh's excellent performance in 2015 and failed to negotiate with other boards to tour abroad and carry the winning momentum.

T20 leagues these days don't consider Bangladesh players as valuable. Sabbir Rahman, Mahmudullah or even Tamim Iqbal hardly been looked at despite their performances in T20s in recent times. Perhaps SLPL could have helped

Wahab won't be picked by any top 8 ODI side i think. Sohail Khan is a swing bowler with decent pace and he performed well so far. Pakistan is badly missing him.

Looks like a flat track ,Sharjeel should be able to score quick as well.

So ... everyone

After this performance do you still want Amir dropped ?

Lollll

Even the commentators sounding bored with all the boundaries being scored now. :))

Between April-August BCB probably tried quite a bit. They wanted to arrange a series with SL not sure why that never happened. And in the monsoon season Bangladesh isn't suitable for hosting cricket matches so some team had to host us really. Zimbabwe was a good option but they had a series with India and a test match with NZ.

Also, the window was open for a series with India in India. We were told about a 3 match ODI series and a solitary test but India backed out which they should have done much earlier so BCB could have discussed matters earlier. You can't really arrange a series within a short time given the climate and global terrorism issue.

Yes but he slogs blindly. Might get a quick 40 - 50 but England are not Ireland and will figure out a way for him to get himself out eventually. I hope I'm wrong as I don't want to see a one-sided game.

Get Amir back into the attack and have him bowl his overs out he is clearly the only one who can stop this

He's a lot better than Wahab, honestly speaking.
