England vs India | 1st Test | Edgbaston | Aug 1-5, 2018 | Day 3 Thread

I can't see India winning this one.. batting is too limp for the occasion. Curran has taken it away.

India's only hope is some daft captaincy by Root and poor slip catching by England :) Come on step up you two

Copied from ESPN:

Highest successful chases at Edgbaston:

South Africa 281 in 2008
England 208 v NZ in 1999
West Indies 152 in 1991
England 121 v India in 1996
England 121 v Australia in 2015

India should thank pakistan. Broad got wickets against pakistan in leeds which stretched him in the team. Otherwise he does not warrant the team for the last one year. England needs woakes batting and bowling

I wonder if ishant will be a more threatening bowler if he were to shave his head...hmmm

So even Holding and Sanga saying that England need a right hander. Too bad Moeen Ali will replace Stokes. Heard Joe Clarke is a talent

This is going to be one interesting chase.India's solid batting line up will make the English bowlers sweat.

Poor slip catching from both teams. India has also dropped too many. Hopefully england will match this. So far so good.

Sad to say that England might actually be on the way to winning this game if Malan had taken some of those catches.

Would I be too harsh if I said that David Malan is the culprit of Englands defeat?

With the way test matches has ups and down i expect firey spell from someone.

Theoretically people will say you cant blame an individual but in real sense he has been the major factor with his dropped catches but match is still on

mmmm.....I think that would be a bit unfair. As bad as those drops are (didn't cook drop one too?), the real culprit has been the stupidity of the groundsman. I said many, many posts ago, if England do not maintain a big enough lead then Ashwin will play a massive part. This is an entirely atypical England wicket, low, slow, dry and with this unusual Indian summer we're having, the conditions have made it worse. It is almost as if India are playing on a day 3 pitch somewhere in Chennai.

India is off to a good start.Batsmen have put some bats on ball, growing the confidence. Its India's match to loose. If England wins India won't be able to come back in this series.

On top of that his batting is awful. Saw Hassan Alis indipper troubling him. Cant play spin, pace and cant catch. They need Joe Clarke

Thankfully previous drop catch didn't cost anything, but Eng needs to catch everything. 194 runs is not so little.

Yes, because ball swings and seams around like crazy in Chennai and half the time ball flies through the slips.

Phil Tufnell practically having a brain haemorrhage in the commentary box from the excitement.

The only way england will get wickets. Cant expect Cook and Malan to catch. Still remember him dropping dollies against Pakistan in the first test match

To remind you vijay was top scorer last time england toured. 400+ Runs.

I know man but that was 4 years ago. He has regressed a lot. I don’t remember when was the last time we had a 100 runs opening partnership.

My previous post turned out to be a curse for India.First wicket gone :misbah4

Broad seems to be a changed bowler. I am seeing him after a long time.He seems to be more energetic, with aggressive run up to the wicket. His bowling style was lethergic previously. He is swinging the ball.

Its time England move on from.Cook and Malan

Atleast under Mickey we can safely say that Pak is amongst the best slip catching sides. We have done quite well since serial dropper Hafeez has been ousted and catches haven't gone to Azhar recently who drops them 7 times out of 5, yes he even drops the ones not coming at him by interfering with the other catchers.

Maybe thats why hes been dropped?

Broad back with a brace.

In comes the Big Gun against the new ball.

Get malan out of slip. I can sense him dropping kohli again. I repeat get that useless guy out of the slips

One more wicket and we are done. High time we move on from Vijay, Dhawan probably Pujara too.

Not happening as its same for many teams. Few players perform really well in conditions which favor them but struggle against conditions which are a but difficult but their records by playing at home influences the selection

Looks like English players are reading this thread. 1st People ridiculed Shyam Karan, questioned his place and he came hard on us.

People said Broad is garbage bowler now, well past his prime, too old. And look what he is doing now.

Get Kohli and then game over... No hope from these overhyped Rahul Pahuls

Let's see how Kohli settles into this partnership where he might not be the more popular batsman. freelance_cricketer

WinViz says India is still big favs to win the game with 61% chance to win. I think they just need to see off the new ball and have one 70+ innings to win this test.

I would happily bet against India at this point. Anderson is doing all sorts of things with his deliveries.

Granted its tough out there but India should not go in their shell and look to defend everything because sooner or later there will be a ball delivered that has your name on it. Also if you have defensive mindset then you make even ok balls look great. Make as much dent on the score during your time at the crease.

please i want to see the match but i dont have access to TV right now
i want to see on my laptop

dear indian fans

can u give me any online streaming link please???

Who is that?

I'm putting my money on an Indian victory here. They have done very well to make a comeback.
