So glad we didn't play Rana, I can't imagine he could possibly be as threatening as Shabbir Ahmed has been so far

I was going to seriously suggest Y Khan as an option.

Akthar back on, inzi wakes up afta a fly accidently flys into his mouth!

Hello everyone, just started watching. A quick 2 line summary anyone? We officially have the worse tail lineup for batting...before we were spoilt with Wasim, Waqar, Mushy. How's Akhter been bowling? If he gets the ball to reverse (or anyone for that matter), wickets will fall.

:))
deep irony man, deep

I'd also play Rana, and with Afridi too - both can contribute with bat and ball, in all likelihood Afridi will play the next one with the way things are looking here.

Come on SHOAIB - go for the throat and the stumps

Multan at its best

Akthars 1st spell was decent, start of 2nd spell has been bakwas!

apart from west indies, indeed we do have worst tail in world!

ooh, good signs - a lot of reverse in that final delivery by Shoaib - though against a left-hander

BM, accept it 'You make fun of others in every thread, when they repeat something that you have seen before"

I guess this is payback time...BTW, as much as I love seeing Rana play for Pakistan, he has barely set the world on fire in Tests :21:

He's never been given a proper run in tests has he? He plays a test here and a test there. He's never had a chance to really get used to bowling alongside fully fit pace attack either, instead he's had to try and lead the line on his own.

He's the only bowler we have who can used his brain, he's one of the few that can really swing the new ball and he bowls very good reverse swing and has the heart of a champion. He's exactly the kind of bowler we need on this pitch that offer nothing to the bowler, he's got a big enough bag of tricks to keep the batsman guessing but people can dismiss his test match credentials after a brief stop-start test career while Sami is a constant fixture despite being consistently useless just because he bowls quick and has big floppy hair? Shabbir gets in even though it's the first time he's bowling with his remodelled action?

Those two are good enough for test cricket but Rana isn't? What a farce, Rana's exclusion is a bigger crime than Afridi and Kamal being dropped

Not to mention Arshad Khan gets into the squad but Gul doesn't? I'm tearing my hair out as we speak, I'm going to look like the guy in my avatar soon.

Just to give you food for thought, Noddy said "Rana himself doesn't believe he has it in himself to be a really good test bowler"

He might have changed his mind in the last few months but that still is not a good sign 'when you question your own ability'

With Afridi being dropped after his recent contributions with both bat and ball in test matches, I disagree

Banger flashes hard at a short and wide one and top edges it for four

our bowling is much too hyped...is that shabbir or arshad khan?...anyways, i have heard that we were really bad in the 60's...but i can't imagine it being any worse than this...a test squad that can rarely reach 300 ever and bowlers who can never bowl out a side...

Doesn't help that everybody around him keeps telling him he's not quick enough/good enough/flashy enough/too bald/too boring/too hardworking to play test cricket and is never going to be more than an ODI specialist does it?

Noddy also said that Afridi didn't want to open and seeing as the only realistic spot available in the team for him was as an opener it's not a good sign for his test prospects if you want to pursue that line of logic

pakistan should first get some maidens .Then attack.

jeez even the fielding looks haggard

Afridi's is a question of balance, I don't think the side looks right with him batting at 6 and the only way he could play at 7 was if we went with 2 seamers which was never going to happen. Therefore the only place he could play was as an opener which is a position that he didn't want to bat in, the moment Malik was chosen as an opener we all knew Afridi was going to miss out.

Rana's was a straight swap, like for like and as such there's no way you can say he doesn't deserve to be in the side if you compare on a man to man basis

50 for Tres
GREAT KNOCK SKIPPER!

Pitched just outside off stump, hit him in line and would have gone on to hit! It was plumb!

Tresco will lose his wicket very soon gents - hold on to your seats.....very soon....

wat the hell iz wrong with bowden.. that looked plum first time
not sure what he thought happend or was going to happen... :12:

Damn I am supporting England and still find the negativity in here is a bit shocking. Maybe I post on the Indian board too much but I would have expected a dozen threads on cheating umpiring etc... Pakistan were in a much better position than this before they collapsed, and it only requires one good spell from say Akthar or Sami and things can change very quickly. England dont have a thorpe or a hussain in the middle-order to steady things if a collapse in on - so they can go down blazing too......I hope they don't.....but it can happen.

Malik will deliver us from the Evil Umpire !!

Bell was meant have been out about 6 million overs ago? What happened to that?

Agreed that Rana should play (i was always selecting him in my final XI) but I believe that the team does look right with Afridi at 6 or 7 - imo he definitely has the batting capability to hold a number six spot - so far in his test career of 19 tests and 3 centuries (flintoff has 5 centuries off 53 tests) he's looking good, not to mention his absolutely crucial contributions with the ball 11 overs 3 for 17 is amazing considering that the wickets were Tendulkar, Laxman and Ganguly

Looks like Danish may have to bowl his usual 70 overs in an innings to get his 4fer or 5.. I seriously dont get it, why is Pak bowlers looking so inpenetrative?....I was hoping to see a good match but kinda getting one sided...

that pepsi can with the people inside (feet clearly visible) is damn funny. Reminds me of the Flintstones. :-D
